The third round two hour long dialogue was held between the ruling Awami League and the main opposition BNP on Friday 13, December. The both parties transacted proposals to reach a consensus free, fair and inclusive election breaking the ongoing political deadlock.
While speaking to journalists after the dialogue Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said that the proposals made in the meeting with BNP will be further discussed with the higher authorities. He said they will hammer out their next strategy in consolation of their party leaders.
Echoing Ashraf, BNP acting Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the next step regarding the proposals made in the meeting with the government and the Awami League leaders will be taken after consulting with the senior policy makers of BNP.
Two four member delegation from both Awami League and BNP led by Awami league General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam and BNP acting Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is taking part in the dialogue.
Land Minister Amir Hossain, Industries Minister Tofail Ahmed, AL secretary general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam and Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adiser Dr. Gowher Rizvi are representing the government while BNP is being represented by BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam, BNP standing committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan and vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury as they did on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Awami League and BNP held the first dialogue in presence of the UN Assistant Secretary General Oscar Fernandez at the Gulshan residence of UN resident coordinator Neal Walker.
The UN emissary arrived here on December 6 amid the counry's murky political situation and left December 11. Five days after his hectic efforts to break the political deadlock throuh bringing them in dialogue which installed some hope in the country's people.
