Haroon Tariq, student of Froebel's International School (FIS) in Pakistan, has broken all previous records by obtaining 47 As in his International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), O-Level and A-Level exams, from the University of Cambridge International Examinations. The previous world record in O levels alone was also proudly held by a Pakistani student named Zohaib Asad with a total of 28 As, whereas Haroon managed to achieve 38 As in O levels.
His subjects ranged from social, physical and biological sciences to religion and cultural development. According to Haroon, he studied a total of 50 subjects in the three years and admitted that he had to go through a sheer struggling phase during this time. He does not a straight-to-success story to narrate; as he started learning languages which were totally strange to him like Spanish and French, but finally gave them up since this practice was taking a lot of his time.
Haroon’s outstanding result is a proud event for the whole nation. The head principle of Haroon’s school, Shahmina Kamal said: “I feel honoured to be instrumental in shaping a competent youngster for tomorrow’s Pakistan.”
The exceptionally brilliant student, who also happens to be fond of playing football, plans to study engineering in future. We wish him all the best!
